Dorian describes himself as a 'Corporate Hippy', equally at home around the boardroom table as the camp-fire. He started Skoosh back in 2001 with the single aim of proving that there is a better way to do business. Once he's done that, you'll find him back in his hammock plotting to change the business world some other way.
Matt traveled down the coast from his native Cornwall to join Skoosh and has navigated the company through so many ups and downs he may as well have become a fisherman. He's unquestionably the most prolific person in social media and replies to anyone and everyone at lightning speed. Outside of Skoosh he might be playing the ukulele, drinking beer or drinking beer (sic).
Not everyone in Skoosh resides along the white sandy (okay, brown pebbly) beaches of Brighton. Eugene, our lead developer, heads up a team of developers in Russia and the ex-Soviet Republics. Along with his team he has created what we believe to be the best technology in the travel industry and a cornerstone of Skoosh. With a couple of drinks inside him, Eugene will surprise you with a heart-felt wedding ballad.
A true consultant, Mike sports a perma-tan and was saying "we" and "us" almost as soon as he'd stepped through the door. But it wasn't long before we realised what an amazing asset Mike is to Skoosh and, having polished our accounts into shiny working order, "we" now discuss all aspects of the business together. Out of Skoosh Mike can be seen in a crisp white shirt cruising the Mediterranean islands.
Stuart has been giving our customers the best possible service since Spring 2012. He loves customer service so much that in his spare time he "mystery shops" our local shops & restaurants to ensure they keep their own standards high. He’s also our resident film buff, and rates "Blues Brothers" as his favourite film, although he draws the line at wearing sunglasses in the dark.
Vojta settled into Skoosh life well since joining near the end of 2012, although it may help that he is from Dorian’s favourite European city, Prague... He plays floorball in his spare time, a kind of non-icey version of ice hockey which none of us understand, as well as spending much time on either side of the bar in Britain’s first & finest charity pub, the Robin Hood.
After a year away globe-trotting Lua returned to England determined to pursue a career in furniture-making. But she’s still with us on the all important cake-Tuesdays and she’s also so deep inside the thinking behind SkooshKarma she will always be part of us, cakes or no cakes.
Jess arrived with a wealth of travel industry experience and a cool head in a crisis, including once helping to evacuate a Boeing 747 after it suffered an on-board fire, ensuring all passengers were unharmed. We like heroes. She's settled in well to Skooshlife, and with a strong interest in baking has proven as popular with her colleagues as with our lucky customers.
Rock star, squash player, data manager, beer connoisseur: Tim is the quintessential modern renaissance man. If he's not jangling his guitar, supping the latest Transylvanian IPA or thrashing Matt at squash, then he's making sure our hotel data is spick and span, and managing our team of data matchers to boot.
Dividing her time between accounts and reservations, Plamena joined the Skoosh team in July 2014. She loves to travel and says the best place she's been so far is Moldova, where she lived for 4 years. Outside of work she also loves the cinema and swimming (although she hasn't braved the sea in Brighton yet!) and has practised a plethora of different sports. An adventurous and happy spirit, Plamena always has a smile for you when you need one and has been a welcome addition to the team.
Mum (Feb 1948 - Nov 2009)
Dorian's mum was involved in Skoosh from its inception. She reviewed every concept, every strategy, even every font. She may not be around to see SkooshKarma but she would have loved the idea and we hope it meets her very exacting requirements. God help the duty manager if it doesn't.
Tom's rise to the top of Skoosh makes for an amazing story in its own right. Refusing to accept the rejection from his original application he more or less forced his way in and, within four years, he was running the show. He's now away doing his own things elsewhere but still provides valuable assistance and insight.
Sam put her all into the creation of Skoosh. Her talent and spirit is written into the company, in many fonts and languages. When we have room for a wake-boarding circuit in the office, we want Sam back.
Not every company has a wizard but we do. The "Magical Lorenzo" is a long term adviser to SkooshKarma. When not discussing the finer points of Karma, he's out there making people better with hypnotherapy and other magical powers.
Mary-Ellen Fox (1960 - 2014)
Mary-Ellen made light work of the part of the business which always scared the life out of the rest of us - the book-keeping, and made us the fastest payers in the industry at the same time. Her influence in getting us through the tough times was huge. An inspirational mother, she felt like an extra parent to us all in the office and we miss her greatly.
As Industrious and as rare as Oompa Loompa's, Georgi and Milan are the brains behind much of the inner workings of SkooshKarma. No-one knows how they do things, just that everything they touch works brilliantly. Next time you find exactly the right hotel for you, these are the guys to thank.
More than just moral support over the years, of which she offered loads, Nicole taught us what a brand means and how to communicate our values. She is as inspirational as she is talented and not just in the office. If you like salmon and spinach, no-one makes better.
Adrian has contributed more to SkooshKarma than anyone realises, himself included. An English language teacher, he makes sure every comma sits where it should but he also has outstanding abilities to grasp complex business ideas and to assess whether they'll sink or swim. He can be thanked for InstantKarma among many other things.
DecoGrafics - Marius
He is our designer so there's no disguising his brilliance. Anything you come to him with, he'll make better. His tagline "If you can imagine it, we can do it", understates his abilities. When we launch our next version of SkooshKarma you'll see his talents in all his glory.
Al Ries and Laura Ries
This father daughter combo have written some of the most incisive books on marketing and branding. If you're new to the subject, "e;The 22 Immutable Laws of Branding" is as enjoyable as it is informative. Jack Ries also co-authored our bible, "e;Positioning, the Battle for your Mind". Sounds scary, but isn't.
